Sunday Adult Forum
Sundays at 9:15am from September to May
Topics vary from current events, theological reflection, community endeavors, and various ministries. Whatever the topic, it is helpful, informative, interesting and very often results in a lively discussion among attendees. The forums are announced in our newsletter and worship leaflet in advance. All are welcome (whether or not you worship with us).
Fundamentals of the Faith
The Adult Forum on the first Sunday of the month is dedicated to Fundamentals of the Faith. Every month a different topic is led by Mother Catherine or one of the other clergy. It might be a look at our faith through the lens of history, the sacraments, the creed, or some other framework.
Book Club
Mondays at Noon
Check the newsletter and worship leaflet to learn what the current or upcoming book is. Members take turn leading the discussions, and books include National Book Award, New York Times Bestsellers and Editor’s Best Book Picks. Subjects focused on religion, faith, social justice, disability and difference, slavery and friendship, Native American culture, conquest of the American West, women’s rights, and the Vietnam War. At times authors have joined the discussion too. Book Club regularly engaged parishioners and friends through meaningful insights, new knowledge, critical thinking, spiritual reflection, and in-depth discussion among our spiritual community.
Education for Ministry (EfM)
Education for Ministry (EfM) is a four-year theological study and group reflection process out of Sewanee School of Theology for the formation of Christians involved in a variety of different ministries.
Topics covered include:
• Spirituality, prayer, and worship
• The authority of the Bible for the church today
• The lessons and perspectives of history
• Theological reflection as a life skill
• Integrating behavior and belief for faithful living
• Discovering vocation, passion, and one’s place in the church
Through study, prayer, reflection, and small-group conversation, participants are offered an opportunity to examine their own beliefs in light of the Christian tradition and everyday experience—developing knowledge, aptitude, and identity as followers of Jesus. The first two years of the curriculum focus on Scripture (year one on the Hebrew Scriptures and year two on the New Testament), year three examines Church history, and year four focuses on theology and ethics.
Lectio Divina
In Spanish Wednesdays at 6:00pm
In English Fridays at 10:00am seasonally
Lectio Divina is a contemplative way of reading the Bible. It dates back to the early centuries of the Christian Church and was established as a monastic practice by Benedict in the 6th century. It is a way of praying the scriptures that leads us deeper into God’s word. We slow down. We read a short passage more than once. We chew it over slowly and carefully. We savor it. Scripture begins to speak to us in a new way. It speaks to us personally and aids that union we have with God through Christ, who is himself the Living Word.
So, Lectio Divina is not Bible study or even an alternative to Bible study but something radically different. The practice understands Scripture as a meeting place for a personal encounter with the Living God. It is a practice we come to with the desire to be changed at all sorts of levels. It operates very much on the emotional rather than the purely cerebral level. It is perhaps more heart-driven than head-driven. Through it we allow ourselves to be formed in the likeness of Christ; it is about formation rather than instruction.
Foro para Adultos
Los temas del foro varían de acuerdo con los acontecimientos del momento, con la reflexión teológica, con los esfuerzos comunitarios y con los varios ministerios de la iglesia. Cualquiera que sea el tema, es útil, informativo, interesante y a menudo resulta en una animada discusión entre los asistentes. Fundamentos de la Fe
El Foro para Adultos del primer domingo del mes se dedica a los Fundamentos de la Fe. Cada mes la Madre Catherine u otros miembros del clero tratan un tema de importancia espiritual, incluyendo: la historia eclesiástica, los sacramentos, el credo, el gobierno de la iglesia episcopal, entre otros.
Club del Libro
Consulte el boletín semanal (Beacon) para saber qué libro se va a discutir. Los miembros comparten la responsabilidad de dirigir las discusiones. Los libros son elegidos por los asistentes e incluyen libros premiados por organizaciones de prestigio (New York Times, National Book Award y otras.) Algunos ejemplos de los temas tratados se relacionan con la religión, la fe, la justicia social, la esclavitud, la amistad, la conquista del oeste americano, los derechos de las mujeres, la guerra de Vietnam, la inmigración y la cultura de los indígenas. A veces los autores han sido invitados a participar. Education for the Ministry (EFM)

Educación para el Ministerio es un estudio teológico e histórico de cuatro años patrocinado por la la Escuela de Teología de la Universidad de Sewanee, en Tennessee, para la formación espiritual necesaria para un ministerio cristiano.
Los temas tratados incluyen:
• Espiritualidad, oración, adoración y ministerio
• La autoridad de la Biblia en el día de hoy
• Lecciones y perspectivas de la historia eclesiástica
• La reflexión teológica como base para una vida en Cristo
A través del estudio, la oración, la reflexión y la discusión de diversos tópicos en grupos pequeños, los participantes tienen la oportunidad de examinar sus propias creencias y experiencias cotidianas en el contexto de la tradición cristiana. Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina es una forma contemplativa de experimentar la Biblia. Sundays with Children
We hold a Children's Chapel at our 10:30 service for all ages, where children participate in an age appropriate version of the mass until the peace, when they join their grown ups for communion and the end of the service. All are welcome!
Children are always welcome at our worship services. Don’t worry if they get restless or are new to church! We are genuinely happy to have children among us, always.
Escuela Dominical
Contamos con una Capilla de Niños en nuestro servicio de las 10:30 para todas las edades, donde los niños participan en una versión de la misa apropiada para su edad hasta la paz, cuando se unen a sus adultos para la comunión y el final del servicio. ¡Todos son bienvenidos!
Los niños siempre son bienvenidos a nuestros servicios Eucarísticos. ¡No se preocupe si son inquietos o son nuevos en la iglesia! Nos da gusto de tener a sus hijos en nuestro recinto. La Escuela Dominical introduce historias y conceptos bíblicos al nivel infantil mediante el uso de figuras y estructuras que los niños puedan manipular con el propósito de facilitar el entendimiento del texto.
